Since 1999, LEF has hosted its annual Teacher Awards, honoring outstanding K-12 educators in Lafayette Parish public, private and parochial schools. This Academy Award style event, complete with cheering fans and media interviews on the red carpet, provides public recognition for those who give tirelessly but generously to the children in our community – OUR TEACHERS! Beginning in 2015, PreK-4 and charter school educators are eligible for nomination for Teacher Awards. Click here to view the PreK-4 Eligibility Policy.
There are four categories in which Finalists are chosen: elementary school, middle school, high school, and an inspirational category. A Top Finalist is chosen in each category. Each Finalist received a cash award of $1,000, and Top Finalists receive an additional cash award of $1,500!
Educators are nominated by the students, parents, fellow educators and members of the Lafayette community. Nominees must be active academic educators in Lafayette Parish public, private, parochial or charter schools in grades PreK-4 – 12.
